Brick of Mormon Stories is a selection of illustrated stories for children from the Book of Mormon.
There are a variety of Book of Mormon stories resources for children, but Brick of Mormon Stories takes a different approach. The intent of Brick of Mormon Stories is to create an abridged Book of Mormon for kids which contains the actual text from the Book of Mormon, along with photo illustrations. This illustrated Book of Mormon contains photo scenes created by the VanWagenen family with LEGO bricks and characters. All the LEGO scenes are original creations built to role play the Book of Mormon stories.
These illustrated Book of Mormon stories were compiled with the following objectives in mind:
~ Applicable – Create a Book of Mormon stories resource that combines the LDS scripture stories and some of the toys children play with on a regular basis, helping children “liken” the scriptures unto themselves.
~ Motivating – Help children and families apply the scriptures to themselves by sharing one way (out of many) to role play and discuss the Book of Mormon stories. Scripture and gospel discussions can occur outside of family scripture study.
~ Consistent – Deliver a Book of Mormon for children, which is consistent in text with what they will find in the complete Book of Mormon. This is not just a LEGO-illustrated book, it is meant to acquaint children with the language of the scriptures and tell the stories using the original scripture verses.
Brick of Mormon Stories has been an effective way to begin teaching the Book of Mormon Stories in the VanWagenen family, and we hope it is a valuable resource to other families throughout the world.
Proceeds from the sale of this book are set aside for the missionary funds for the VanWagenen boys who built the LEGO scenes, role played the stories, and helped bring this book together. They will be going out into the world soon enough to teach the gospel in full – thanks for your support.
